- Allows for differentiated learning (i.e. students can work on their own individual reading strategies/goals).
- Offers opportunities for:
- Individual instruction- teacher can work one on one with students knowing that the rest of the class are engaged in authentic tasks.
- Small group instruction- students who are working on the same strategies can form small groups and assist each other to achieve common goals.
- Whole-class instruction- explicit teaching of reading strategies to the whole-class is possible, fostering rich discussion before students break away to complete one of the daily 5 rotations.
- Encourages students to become independent and take ownership of their own reading.
- Listen to reading can incorporate multiliteracies (e.g. eBooks, videos)
